Wrapping up the show we have @chrisjrn and Poppy
Thank you all for being here and make sure to subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to learn when we announce #NBPy 2025! https://buttondown.email/NorthBayPython
Video recordings are already going live thanks to @nextdayvideo! We'll be updating all our session announcement toots with the links in time. https://youtube.com/NorthBayPython #NBPy
@NorthBayPython @chrisjrn I'm not a Python developer (Swift/iOS), but I think I'd like to attend next year. I mean, why not? I'm already here! And I like cats.
We have a Python developer on our team, so maybe I'll see if he wants to come out next year too.
It was fun reading the posts and watching the conference vicariously!
@evankstone @NorthBayPython @chrisjrn recovering software developer here. #NBPy was and is a great local conference, just the right amount of content across an impressively wide spectrum (I keep mentioning we had a talk about cocktail robots this time around) and the folks speaking are top notch. 10/10 recommended
@randy @NorthBayPython @chrisjrn I can believe it. I was just looking at the videos from last year, and they look amazing! Now I'm disappointed that I didn't attend this year.
Out of curiosity, how did the venue manage the heat this weekend? That was one of the concerns I had.
@evankstone @NorthBayPython @chrisjrn a bunch of big ass fans. Handheld fold-up fans handed out to attendees who wished for additional personal airflow. The fans added to the soothing background noise of the day, but were not excessive. The breeze they offered was very welcome, especially in the afternoon.
@randy @NorthBayPython @chrisjrn nice! I'm glad they were able to cool it down.
I was just at a conference in Cupertino and they had tents outside and they cooled those down with massive swamp coolers. They worked pretty well, but you pretty much had to be directly in line with the blast of air.
@evankstone
It stayed below 90F all weekend in there, which is not nothing. If the forecast is significant higher next year, our industrial rental supplier will do swamp coolers for us
@randy @NorthBayPython
@chrisjrn @randy @NorthBayPython good to hear! Yeah they seem pretty effective, from my limited experience.
I was trying to figure out where the venue was located. Is it down towards Kastania or is it closer to town?
@chrisjrn @randy @NorthBayPython ignore that. Found it. I see. It's on the other side of the freeway, but it is down that direction. Awesome! Nice location!
@evankstone
It's on the Petaluma Blvd S extension
@randy @NorthBayPython
@chrisjrn @randy @NorthBayPython Awesome! Really nice location!
@evankstone and we in Sonoma County and Petaluma used to gather to talk nerdliness throughout the year, maybe we need to reconstitute that.
@evankstone I’m mostly an Apple tech person and still get heaps out of it :) @NorthBayPython @chrisjrn
@parisba @NorthBayPython @chrisjrn that's really good to know! Yeah it seems like a really good lineup of talks. Looking forward to watching the existing videos and new ones as they are posted, and hopefully attending next year!
Also I think you mentioned the COVID-19 protocols, and that is another concern that I had that I'm really happy to see that they implemented to some degree. Still a concern to some of us.
